The Counts were missing the services of no less than 12 players who would have otherwise been available for selection, and were forced to make tactical changes such as moving winger Andy Togbolah to full-back, moving the regular full-back Hal Mogridge to the pivotal position of fly-half, pulling skipper Joe Henderson out of the pack to cover the midfield backs position and calling up Jamie Blackmore from the 2nd XV. From the start, the enormity of the task facing Walcountians became apparent as Teddington ran in two tries in the opening 10 minutes.
The ability of the visitors to recycle the ball at speed, to support in numbers and to run defence-splitting angles of attack proved too much for Walcountians to contain, and they were to run in 14 tries. It was to the credit of Walcountians that they stuck to the task of trying to contain a rampant Teddington XV and in trying to take the game to their opponents. Unfortunately, luck was not on the Counts side as two potential opportunities to open their account failed to run in their favour and instead were taken advantage of by Teddington to score tries of their own.
Next Saturday, Walcountians take on bottom side Old Cranleighans at their Portsmouth Road, Thames Ditton ground. Kick-off is at 2:30pm
